Many have said if they could only find someone who could train them to create copy for themselves, they could save a fortune!</div>

<p style="text-align: justify;">So far, in <a href="http://www.theprofessionalwritingservice.com/orgasmic-web-copywriting-that-floats-their-boat-%E2%80%93-part-1/" target="_blank">part 1</a> of the series we discussed the importance of the killer <strong>attention-grabbing headline </strong>and how a great headline draws people into your <i>web copywriting</i> through <span style="text-decoration: underline;">intrigue</span>.  In <a href="http://www.theprofessionalwritingservice.com/orgasmic-web-copywriting-that-floats-their-boat-%E2%80%93-part-2/" target="_blank">part 2</a>, we looked at how, once we have got the attention of our reader, we have to sustain their <strong>interest </strong>through great <span style="text-decoration: underline;">storytelling</span>.  Most recently, in <a href="http://www.theprofessionalwritingservice.com/orgasmic-web-copywriting-that-floats-their-boat-part-3/">part 3</a>, we discussed <strong>desire</strong> and how great web copywriters <span style="text-decoration: underline;">exploit</span> the needs and desires of the reader.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><u>Web copywriting</u> is about the art of persuasion.  It is the process of using words and to some degree images to influence the reader and convince them to <strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">BUY</span></strong>.  If you want to sell, you have to make it easy for the buyer and tell them <strong>EXACTLY</strong> what you want them to do.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">While the best web copywriters do this subtly throughout their copy, every great piece of copy has to include the blatant <span style="text-decoration: underline;">call to action</span>.</p>
<h2>Why?</h2>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Without wishing to insult the entire human race, people like being told what to do and they like being given simple stepping stones to follow.  A simple link or button within your web copywriting text works wonders because it’s a no brainer!  So why not make it easy for them!<img class="alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-1740" src="http://www.theprofessionalwritingservice.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/Fotolia_10706442_XS1-150x150.jpg" alt="Get A Web Copywriting Quote Today!" width="150" height="150" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Yesterday, my wife and I went grocery shopping.  I have learned so much about my trade by wandering around grocery stores but I would be lying if I said I had anything but hatred for the whole grocery shopping experience.  However, like many people, my wife is the eternal bargain hunter and what’s more, she’s GOOD at it!</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">It’s hard to understand how grocery shopping has helped me become the great web copywriter I am but it has&#8230; in fact, it’s a great learning experience for anyone who runs an online business!</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">As we wander through the aisles, my wife is blissfully unaware of the carefully devised grocery store system she is following because, like everyone else, she believes in her mind that she is just ‘doing the shopping and finding the bargains’.  Everything from the layout of the store to the carefully positioned calls to action, is designed to make us buy, buy, buy!</p>
<h2 style="text-align: center;">“Oh look, Pepsi is on sale&#8230;”</h2>
<p style="text-align: justify;">As my wife loaded up the cart with what seemed like enough carbonated brown stuff to keep the US Army hydrated, I asked her how she knew it was on sale.  The 12 foot yellow arrow pointing at the display was a bit of a giveaway, but sarcasm is one of my many charms!  The strange part was, my sarcasm was completely wasted when her response was not “look at the big yellow arrow, you idiot!”, instead, she pointed to a tiny little label on the shelving saying buy one get one free ends 6/6/2010 and replied “we need to get this today!”.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Quite how she managed to miss the yellow monstrosity is beyond me, but the reality is people do!  Which is why making grand calls to action and following them with text that creates a sense of urgency is vital when creating web copywriting that sells products.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Effective web copy writing strikes a balance between bold, overt calls to action, that draw the readers attention and powerful text that subtly persuades the reader that your product or service can meet their needs and desires.  A great copywriter has to be a creator of killer headlines, a superb storyteller, a master manipulator and the king of clarity and I hope you&#8217;ve learned more about <em>&#8220;Orgasmic Web Copywriting&#8221;</em> and how to be a better web copywriter!</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Every Sunday my wife and I take our daughters to our favourite waterside restaurant.  We eat lunch and talk about our respective weeks, until, on an already full stomach, we indulge ourselves in their fabulous dessert menu.  Rocky road sundae, banana and butterscotch waffles&#8230;decisions, decisions?</p>
<p>When all talk of my daughters’ school projects, my wife’s nightmare student and my <i>web copywriting</i> exploits is over, we sluggishly drag ourselves for a walk around the lake.  9 times out of 10, I make some sort of reference to the fact that perhaps we should have split a dessert, but nevertheless, we remain destined repeat the ritual 7 days later.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">On the way back to the car, we’ll pass Toys R Us and without fail one (or both) of the girls will reliably inform us of the latest toy they simply <span style="text-decoration: underline;">must have</span>.  Next comes Prada and amazingly enough, my wife <span style="text-decoration: underline;">needs</span> a new dress for some event I know nothing about and finally Barnes &amp; Noble&#8230;and of course, I <span style="text-decoration: underline;">need</span> research materials for my latest <u>web copywriting</u> project (that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it!)</p>
<h1 style="text-align: center;">“6 year-old uncovers the key to eternal life!”</h1>
<p style="text-align: justify;">This Sunday, my 6 year old gave me the most profound lesson in web copywriting I have ever had.  After years of studying the greats (and lining the pockets of Mr Barnes &amp; Mr. Noble), it was my daughter who gave me that ‘epiphany moment’!</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">On asking why she wanted the toy of the week, she responded (hands on hips), “Everybody wants things dad, if you don’t want things you <strong>DIE!</strong>”</p>
<p>I laughed&#8230;but when I thought about, she’s <span style="text-decoration: underline;">right</span>.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Show me a person who has fulfilled their every desire, had their every need met, and wants for absolutely nothing and I&#8217;ll be really impressed.  However, the chances are they would be a figment of your very vivid imagination!   Why? Because no matter what we have, no matter how many zeros grace our bank balance, desire for something more is a basic human instinct we just can not shake. It’s as much a part of human nature as breathing is!</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">When some arrives at your website, they didn’t get there on a magic carpet ride, they arrived because they were looking for a way to meet a desire or need they have.  Great web copywriting is about convincing the reader that that you hold the key to their fulfilling the desires that they came with.</p>
<h2>Now, for more of my Web copywriting genius&#8230;</h2>
<p style="text-align: justify;">A little over a year ago, I was approached by Matt Edwards, a brilliant Internet Marketer who couldn’t understand why his informative ebook on the power of positive thinking was struggling to sell.  In typical Internet Marketer style, Matt came to me with his solution&#8230; “<em>do you think you could re-write it, Jay?” </em></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">One look over the product and I knew it wasn’t the problem.  Although I performed a few minor tweaks, it was evident that the REAL problem was the $2000 sales letter Matt had paid a self-proclaimed “web copywriting expert” to produce.  My gut instinct is the ‘web copywriting expert’ was probably a dyslexic alcoholic, with a possible drug problem so I won’t make you endure his ‘work’ only to say it completely failed in terms of exploiting potential customers desires.</p>

<p>In part 1 of <em>&#8216;Orgasmic Web Copywriting That Floats Their Boat</em>&#8216;, I talked about compelling attention-grabbing headlines and how writing an effective headline is the first and arguably most important step in creating web copy that sells.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">We talked about my experience as a journalist and how studying newspaper and magazine headlines and attempting to write your own are the basic principles for mastering headline writing.  The problem is, mastering the <b>web copywriting</b> craft doesn’t end with great headlines&#8230;that’s just where it starts!</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">We’ll assume that you’ve captivated the reader with your star spangled headline.  Now commences the task of sustaining their interest as they travel through your <u>web copywriting</u> masterpiece.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">At the heart of every piece of great web copywriting is a story designed to engage and interest the reader.  Great copywriters are, in essence, great storytellers and as most of the web copywriting powerhouses, and yes, I include myself in this prestigious group, will tell you, their ability to tell a good story comes from their insatiable thirst for reading good stories.</p>
<p><strong>Let me digress for a moment&#8230; bear with me&#8230; there is a method in my madness!</strong></p>
<h3 style="text-align: center;"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">“Man Turns Personal Tragedy Into A Best Selling Novel”</span></strong></h3>
<p>Millennium year, and my personal life took a nose dive.  With a void in my life and wallowing in my own self pity, I began the cathartic journey of penning my story.  Initially, it was little more than a private opportunity to vent my spleen and extract fictional revenge on the people responsible for my misery.  And so, a fact-based-fiction novel was born.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The best stories and indeed the best web copywriting, starts with factual accounts that morph, change and touch the hearts and minds of the reader.  For example, my novel, which incidently, I decided not to publish despite great interest, told a story that most of us can relate to.  We have all been dumped, we have all felt that gut wrenching sense of loss and we have all thought about the wretched things we would like to do to even the score or change the ending.</p>

<p>In my humble opinion, and I’m fast approaching 20 years in the professional writing field, copywriting is about creating the wow factor.  Grabbing the reader by the unmention-a-balls and getting their undivided attention.</p>
<p>While the title might suggest creating something of a <em>‘When Harry Met Sally’</em> moment, the intent is not to evoke images of readers writhing in ecstasy but to stress that creative and effective <u>web copywriting</u> has to engage, excite and motivate people.</p>
